Every new generation of a car is
expected to be better than the last one but where it comes to the all new
Hyundai i20, the changes are so Dramatic and so Good that it will simply make
you the WOW. I mean, have a look at it, it looks simply amazing. Doesn’t it?
Well this easily is best looking
premium Hatch Back in the country. With the nice fluidic 2 design language
Hyundai have used, this car really looks apart. Key styling elements of course
include the big Hexagon Grill upfront, the black end out sibyl at the back and
those lovely tail lamps which really do give this car a lot of personality.
Well the i20 isn’t all about the looks; it also very practical really with and
Hyundai have done that by giving you a very nice and spacious boot, well as you
can see it is very well spacious and square boot, which means you can load in
those big heavy boxes in it. There is a bit of a loading lip but we can forgive
that because it is a deep boot and I will demonstrate that by keeping in our
camera bag in to it. Well as you can see, this bag fits in nicely and I guess
there is space of another 5 bags of this size. Its 285 liters in space but
because it is so well shaped, you can really load it up to the brim. Good job
by Hyundai.
Well not only does the new i20
look brilliant on the outside, the cabin quality and the materials used are
absolutely first rate on the inside as well and this really is a very very feel
good cabin, the money you will be spending on this car really does seem to be
justified by simply the cabin quality, it is absolutely brilliant and the beige
black combination works really well and this car of course being a Hyundai, is
completely loaded to the brim with technology and with features. This car of
course gets Bluetooth connectivity for your phone, it gets nice Steering
Mounted controls for your stereo as well as the phone and 1GB of Hard Drive
space on the stereo to store your music on because this is the top of line
version, you also get a Start/Stop Button, Automatic Climate Control, Defoggers
and USB port as well. Well the i20 also gets a reverse camera which you can see
in the rear view mirror when you are engaging to reverse and it is very
practical place to be as well, you get these bottle holders right next to the
passenger seat and these door pockets can also house these big bottles as well
in them but the best place of course to keep these bottles is the glove box
because it is air cooled and really it is big enough to house 2 or may be 3
bottles and it is really great to keep those drinks cold on that long journey.
The seat themselves are very comfortable and of course height adjustments as
well as steering adjustment both Rick as well as reach means that finding a
comfortable driving position is really easy and there is lots of head room as
well. So, overall it is a great place to be on the front seats.
Well, I am on the back seat of the
new i20 now and as you can see, head room is pretty good and leg room is decent
as well considering my height which is 5’10” and I have adjusted the front seat
according to my height as well just for reference. Well the i20 comes with the
rear AC Vents which really does help the passenger at the rear keep cool. Well
the other good part of course is that the floor panel is very very flattish,
which means who ever sitting in the middle has got place to keep his feet at
and won’t be struggling for leg room or fighting with the passengers on the
other side and with it’s generous width, you can actually genuinely sit 3 at
the back in comfort for those long journeys, so great job done by Hyundai even
in the rear seat department.
Well the new i20 comes with the
same set of engines as before, so you get the same 1.2 L with about 82 BHP of
power and the same 1.4 L with about 90 BHP of power and today we got the 1.2 L
Petrol for you. Well because the gear box is so nice and easy and lite to use,
this is a car which you don’t have to constantly keep shifting gears and
because the spread of power is so nice and so easy, it is really an effortless
car, you don’t have to constantly shift gears and you know press the clutch all
the time when you are in the town and that really does that to be effortless and
easy nature of this car in the city. When you do arrive at your destination,
you will be very fresh and completely relaxed because you haven’t wasted your
energy, you know shifting gears unnecessarily. For this 1.2 L unit from Hyundai
is very fuel efficient unit, in fact Hyundai claims a figure of 18.6 KMPL which
is pretty good considering this segment and also considering the size of this
car, it’s a big car at the end of the days, one of the bigger small cars in the
market. Well in terms of ride and handling, this car is very compliant; it
really soaks up the bumps very well when you are in town. Well Hyundai seems to
have completely nailed it in the premium Hatch Back with this new i20, it comes
with gorgeous looks, both on the outside as well as inside, a very very nice
and refined cabin and a very silky smooth petrol engine along with a very
comfortable ride and all this at a very affordable and attractive price which
makes the i20 one of the best if not THE BEST premium Hatch Back in the Country
today and really we can’t find any major fault with this car and give you any
reason why should not consider this as your next premium Hatch Back car and of
course as always you are looking at this car and its rivals.
