It is raining new cars all across India across
all the segments. The Mercedes CLA45, there is going to be the Tata Zest, Audi
A3 and then of course the Honda Mobilio. Let’s assured you won’t be missing any
action at power drift. So without further though let’s find out what the all
new 2014 Honda Mobilio looks like, what is the price for this car?
Now, we were lucky to strike up a conversation with one of
the Honda Officials and went ahead and asked him what Mobilio stood for and
philosophy behind Honda’s first MPV in India .
Mobilio is our first
MPV in the Indian Market how ever we have a long legacy of LPV’s and we have
been selling MPV’s around the world for over 20 years now. What we have done
is, we have understood the needs of the Indian consumer and used all our
experience to create the Mobilio and based on that experience and Honda’s man
maximum machine minimum philosophy we have been able to liberate a lot of space
for 7 people who can sit very comfortably. When we did all the surveys, our
learning was that there are many people who want a 7 seater but they also want
a good styling. So that was one of the basic requirements from the designers.
So it’s what we called a Mid size stylish MPV.
Now when it comes to looks and styling, we all have seen
that the front of the Mobilio is quite similar to that of the Brio or the Amaze
but lets find out what the car looks like in flash from our very own rally
driver Ninad who happens to be in the thick of all the actions.
"I think the Mobilio is still looks interesting but I am not happy with the Design philosophy that they have used either in the Brio Amaze or now on this car but the over all proportions of this car are very very well put together. It looks like a proper 7 seater and the creases on the side or the blacked out pillars so that the roof looks like a floating roof. So all of that really make this car look premium, it is something that it is going to catch attentions. Moving ahead from looks and styling, lets try and find out what is the power output numbers for the Honda Mobilio looks like."
In terms of specification the Mobilio will be available with both Petrol and Diesel
engine options. The petrol is the 1.5 L i-Vtec that we see in the City, it
produces the same 119 PS and 145 NM of torque. While the diesel is the 1.5 L
i-Dtec, yes it is available in both the Amaze and the City; this one gets a 5
speed gear box like the one in the Amaze. The Honda Mobilio is a 4.4 Meter car,
not a very long car and its wheel base also has to be less than its competitor
the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. How Honda has than scooped out more space on to
inside once again let’s talk to Ninad.
Since it’s an MPV, let’s talk about the riding experiance in India first.
The ride is little firmed but quite comfortable especially in the petrol, the
diesel one is soft. The steering feedback is minimal, it’s not something that
you can really go blasting around the corners in but its quite acceptable for a
car in this segment. Yes the wheel base of the Mobilio is actually less than
that of the Ertiga but the space inside is well lot more. How did they have
manage that, they have push the dashboard as front as it can possible. And then
seats are like, they are not as thick as you see in most of the cars, they are
little thinner and that maximizes the leg room. It works to some extent because
you can have lot more leg room and it is because of the higher roof range you
also have decent head room but the over all comfort of the seat is not very
high. The thigh support is could have been a little better.
In a market like India ,
the pricing of a car is of Para mounting
importance. Now the pricing of the Honda Mobilio is not known yet but Ninad has
his own different opinions about this.
Will my overall take of the car is, we know that this is not
a car that going to competes with the XYLO’s or the Innova’s its relatively its
said the entry point of the MPV segment and for that this is actually a
brilliant product. If you compare the Mobilio with the Ertiga, the space in there is lot
more; drivability with both the engines is fantastic and you know the
interesting thing is, for the first time I have really not bothered about the
price because its worth buying a big, beautiful car for Rs. 10 lac to 13 lac. If some one is really interested in this,
25000 plus or 25000 minus is not going to make much of a difference. Your
choice is not purely going to be based on the price. What you say about this car review, let me know in the comment box.
